Nigella (Damask Black Cumin)

Nigella (Damask Black Cumin)

White, blue, pink, mauve... Nigella is a colourful plant! Yet this chiselled flower is a resilient, low-maintenance plant. It even acts as a natural aphid repellent. Quite magical!

Step 1
Choose a sunny location with loose soil that you will rake to create shallow furrows.

Step 2
Then, sow your seeds along the furrows, spacing them about 20 cm apart from each other.

Step 3
Cover your seeds with a thin layer of soil, then press them down lightly. Finally, water lightly and keep the soil moist until the first shoots appear.

How to harvest new nigella seeds?
Wait for the flowers to fade and the seed capsules to form. When they dry out and turn brown, remove them from the plant and open them to reveal the seeds inside.
