Cornflower

Cornflower

Cornflowers require very little attention. Only three ingredients are essential for their flourishing: plenty of sunshine, well-drained soil, and just a little bit of water. Moreover, by sowing cornflower seeds, you're helping to preserve a local flower that is suffering the ravages of herbicides in the fields.

Step 1
Choose a sunny location with loose soil that you will rake to create shallow furrows.

Step 2
Scatter your cornflower seeds evenly over the surface of the soil. Cover them with a thin layer of soil, then press down lightly.

Step 3
Water lightly and keep the soil moist until the first shoots appear.

How to harvest new cornflower seeds?
Wait for your flowers to wither and their petals to fall off, then shake their heads to release the tiny black seeds.
