Step 1
Choose a partially shaded spot with loose soil. Most importantly, wait until there is no longer any risk of frost before sowing outdoors.
Step 2
Make small holes in the ground about 1 cm deep. Place 1 or 2 seeds in each hole and lightly cover them with soil. Repeat these same steps for seedlings in pots.
Step 3
Water lightly and keep the soil moist, but not over-watered, until the first shoots appear and afterwards.
How to harvest new basil seeds?
To harvest basil seeds, allow your herb to bloom. Pick the stems with faded flowers and let them dry in a dry and airy place. One week later, crush the flowers between your fingers to release the seeds.
